    1   In the Mandriva sagemath package I use the attached patch. It did work with sagemath 4.4 and givaro 3.3.1, and still works with sagemath 4.4.4 and givaro 3.3.2.
     1Givaro 3.3.x is a requirement for LinBox 1.1.7 which fixes some issues relevant to Sage.

     3PS: Givaro 3.4.x is not compatible with LinBox yet since it introduces a {{{Givaro}}} namespace.
