    1 The `#!/usr/bin/env bash` syntax is [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shebang_(Unix)#Portability recommended for portability]. Also, sage ships its own bash and that can be used instead of the system bash when this syntax is used. IIRC, the sage scripts path is prepended to the `PATH` variable.

    33As for the bash script, are you looking at the output of the bash script or only at the return status. In the former case, you probably want to echo back only the $OUT. In this case, the script can be shortened significantly

     10EDIT: Sorry, sage doesn't ship bash. I was recalling something incorrectly (mixed it up with bzip2).
