The attached patch adds "-g0" to CFLAGS only on AIX. This removes the debugging information and solves the problem.

GNU patch now builds OK on AIX.

    6565I don't know if Alan Weger from IBM has any ideas on this. I've seen this error message many times now, and it really is a major headache to getting Sage to build on AIX.
